Diwali - Festival of lights
Diwali or Deepavali is the Hindu festival of lights, celebrated every year in the autumn on the new moon day when there is little natural light. Being one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, it symbolizes victory of light over darkness. Everywhere Hindus light butter (ghee) lamps to purify their homes and hearts. The light symbolizes good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. The light of a ghee lamp is believed to bring prosperity of knowledge and wisdom as these are the greatest form of wealth.
